Description
The guided tour "Meet the Lady of the Cathedrals" will bring you closer to the artistic, historical and religious meaning that is part of the Cathedral of Segovia. This tour aims to tell the history of the temple as a whole and of the most significant spaces through a route that includes chapels, choir, cloister or the exhibition rooms. An official guide will explain its architecture, authors, artists and clergy. The tour begins in the center of the Cathedral, under its transept, to introduce the history of the temple. Dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin to Heaven and San Frutos, it is the last Gothic style church built in Spain and this gives it a unique character, in transition with the Renaissance style, which imprints that character of elegance and slenderness both inside and outside. The tour goes to the choir, one of the preserved elements of the old cathedral, and its organs, exponents of the Spanish baroque organ. Next, we visit the chapels with the most important artistic and religious significance such as Juan de Juni or Piedad, the Inmaculada Concepción, the Cristo Yacente and Santiago Apóstol. The second part leads to the Gothic cloister, also moved stone by stone from the old cathedral, and to the four exhibition rooms: Santa Catalina Hall, Chapter Hall, Tapestry and Liturgical Ornaments Hall and Painting Hall.
