Description
Vancouver band Peach Pit combines vibrant, fast-paced guitar pop with melancholic lyrics. Their 2017 debut Being So Normal, sometimes referred to as "sad pop," found an international audience, leading them to sign with Columbia for the release of 2020's You and Your Friends. Their third album, From 2 to 3, marked a change in the group's sound, incorporating warmer tones and an acoustic bent. Peach Pit's fourth album, Magpie, is due out this October and is a masterclass in expansive arrangements and deeply felt songwriting, a winning formula that only continues the incredible trajectory the band has been on since its inception. The eleven songs captured show the quartet (lead singer Neil Smith, guitarist Chris Vanderkooy, bassist Peter Wilton and drummer Mikey Pascuzzi) delving into classic sounds while honing a musical style that feels entirely their own.
