  • Brilliant tour, very informative
  • Owen gave us a really informative tour, starting with some photos of the area around Castle Park after the first bombing raid in 1940. We then were shown the tunnels below St Nicholas Market, which served as an air raid shelter during WW2. We were shown gas masks and bits of aircraft from that time. There are lots of interesting artefacts, maps, uniforms, ration cards which I would have liked longer to look at but Owen’s tour with it’s stories and photos really helped bring this period of history alive. I fully recommend this tour to anyone interested in the history of Bristol and to anyone who is interested in life in the Uk during the Second World War.

  • I bought this experience as a wedding anniversary gift for my husband, we keep saying we want to explore Bristol and its history so I thought this would be a perfect way to learn more. The tour has exceeded our expectations, our tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of insights that we wouldn't have been able to find otherwise. We started the tour outdoors and made our way into the air raid shelter, it was very well preserved and the tour guide had lots of artefacts and memorabilia from WW2 that we found fascinating. I would really recommend this tour, it's just the right length (1h 45mins) and there isn't that much walking involved if you get tired easily. Great way to spend our Saturday afternoon!
