In short What to expect

The 9/11 Memorial & Museum stands on the footprint of the World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan. Two core exhibitions, September 11, 2001 and In Memoriam, tell the story of the day's events, the 1993 World Trade Center bombing that came before it, and the months that followed, drawing on recovered artifacts, photographs and recorded testimony.

Foundation Hall connects the two exhibitions beneath the Museum. Outside, the Memorial plaza is free to visit, with every victim's name inscribed in bronze around the two reflecting pools and the Survivor Tree, a Callery pear recovered from the site, still growing nearby.

FAQs Frequently asked questions

Where can I find my ticket?

In the "Tickets" section of the Fever app, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play. Log in using the same method you used to buy. Your QR code is also in your confirmation email.

Can I change or refund my ticket?

Please contact us with your ticket ID and we will confirm what is possible for your booking.

How long should I plan for?

The Museum recommends 45 to 90 minutes. Add extra time for security screening at the entrance, and more again if you are taking a guided tour.

Is my ticket for a specific time?

Yes. Museum tickets are date and time specific. Arrive within your slot, and allow time for security screening before you go in.

Does my Museum ticket include the Memorial?

Yes, though the outdoor Memorial plaza is free to everyone regardless. You do not need a ticket to visit the reflecting pools.

Where is the Museum?

180 Greenwich Street, New York, NY 10007. The entrance is the Museum Pavilion on the Memorial plaza.

How do I get there?

By subway: the E to World Trade Center, the 1 to WTC Cortlandt, the A, C, J, Z, 2, 3, 4 or 5 to Fulton Street, or the A, C, 1, 2 or 3 to Chambers Street. The PATH terminates at World Trade Center. The M55, M20 and M22 buses stop nearby, and several ferry services dock in Lower Manhattan.

Is there parking?

The Memorial does not run a car park, and on-street parking in Lower Manhattan is very limited. Discounted rates are offered to ticket holders at some partner garages.

Is it suitable for children?

There is no minimum age, and children aged 6 and under enter free, though they still need a ticket. The Museum advises that the historical exhibition may not be appropriate for visitors under 10, and asks accompanying adults to use their judgment before going in.

Is the Museum wheelchair accessible?

Yes. Standard manual wheelchairs and wheeled walkers are free on a first come, first served basis, and all public restrooms have accessible stalls. The Museum also offers induction hearing loops, open captioning on all exhibition media, an ASL video tour, an audio description tour, and Braille and large-format maps on request. ASL interpretation and live captioning can be arranged with two to three weeks' notice via access@911memorial.org.

What should I expect at security?

Every visitor goes through screening, including X-ray and magnetometers. Bring as little as possible. Bags larger than 19 by 17 by 8 inches are not allowed in and must be left in the coat rooms on the Concourse Lobby or second floor.

Is there an audio guide?

Yes, but it is rented separately at the box office or the audio guide desk in the Concourse Lobby. It is available in nine languages, including ASL, and includes a tour narrated by Robert De Niro.
