Description
It's hard to believe that beneath the bustling Piazza Navona lies a building from ancient Rome. The Stadium of Domitian (also known as Circus Agonalis) could accommodate up to 20,000 spectators, all eager to watch fights and athletic displays. In fact, this extraordinary UNESCO World Heritage site was the first permanent venue in Rome dedicated to gladiatorial combat and competitive sports. It is definitely worth leaving the chaos and crowds behind to visit the ruins of Domitian's Stadium.
