Description
The Musée du Louvre's collection dates back to Mesopotamian, Egyptian and Greek antiquity, and includes works by artists such as Da Vinci, Michelangelo and Rembrandt. Get a quick entry to the Louvre and discover its collection, which focuses on two important periods in the history of art: "Arts and Crafts" of ancient civilizations and "Western European Art" from the Middle Ages to 1848. This Paris landmark was once a palace housing the private art collections of the kings of France. The first art exhibitions organized by the Royal Academy took place in 1725, but it wasn't until 1793 (during the French Revolution) that this venue became an art gallery open to the public. The museum's already impressive collection was soon enriched by the spoils of Napoleon's campaigns in Europe. He made the Louvre's art collection the most important in the world.
