Mamertine Prison
The Carcer Tullianum is an archaeological site in Rome consisting of two parts: the Carcer and the Tullianum. In the Tullianum, enemies of the Roman people, including such notable historical figures as Vercingetorix, were left to die. The site is much visited on pilgrimage and offers a striking view of the Roman Forum.
