About Pelados

Pelados is a dynamic pop band originating from São Paulo, Brazil, known for their distinctive fusion of heartfelt emotion and playful irreverence. Founded in 2016 by friends Helena Cruz (bass), Lauiz (programming and synthesizers), Manu Julian (vocals), Theo Ceccato (drums), and Vicente Tassara (guitar), the group initially performed under the name Pelados Escrotos. Their musical journey began with two self-produced, lo-fi albums—"Com os amigos é melhor" and "THELP"—both released directly on SoundCloud, showcasing their DIY ethos and raw creative energy.

In 2020, Pelados transitioned to a more polished sound with the release of "Sozinhos," a professionally produced album crafted in collaboration with renowned producer Antonio Pinto. This record captured a youthful, innocent pop atmosphere amid the isolating backdrop of the pandemic while maintaining their signature emotional depth. By 2022, with a refined lineup, they unveiled "Foi Mal" through Matraca Records/YB Music. This album melded melodramatic, rock-inspired arrangements with digital textures, reflecting themes of heartbreak and creative experimentation at their own Estúdio Orgânico.

Continuing to push artistic boundaries, Pelados released "Contato" (2025) on the Risco label. This ambitious project features a cosmic, quirky narrative—a musical message aimed at extraterrestrial intelligence. Through their evolving sound—from lo-fi beginnings to studio sophistication—Pelados captivates audiences by blending sentimentality with absurdist humor, securing their place as one of São Paulo’s most innovative and beloved pop collectives.
