About Best Youth

Best Youth is a Portuguese indie pop duo formed by Ed Rocha Gonçalves and Catarina Salinas, who first met as teenagers on a beach in southern Portugal. They began their musical journey with the self-released EP "Winterlies" (2011), featuring the breakout single "Hang Out," which gained widespread attention in 2012 and launched an extensive three-year touring cycle.

In 2015, Best Youth released their debut full-length album, "Highway Moon (Deluxe Edition)," which included hit singles like "Red Diamond," "Mirrorball," and "Black Eyes." These tracks topped national radio charts in Portugal and earned critical acclaim. Their live performances expanded across Europe, with shows in the UK, Belgium, Hungary, and culminating in a main stage appearance at the renowned Paredes de Coura Festival in 2016.

The duo’s profile grew internationally in 2017 when they were highlighted as one of the "10 acts to watch" at the Eurosonic Festival. That year also saw the global reissue of "Highway Moon" with bonus tracks and the release of the acclaimed single "Renaissance," which was recognized by French magazine Les Inrockuptibles as one of the week’s top videos.

Best Youth followed this success with their sophomore album, "Cherry Domino" (2018). The album’s lead single, "Midnight Rain," topped Portuguese charts, while the New York-produced "Nightfalls," created in collaboration with Patrick Wimberly (known for working with Beyoncé, MGMT, and Solange), showcased their evolving sound.

Continuing to innovate within the dream pop and indie rock scenes, Best Youth released their latest album, "Everywhen" (2024), further cementing their influence and dedication to crafting evocative, timeless music from their base in Porto.
