About Nightwish

Nightwish, founded in 1996 by Finnish keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen, stands as one of the most influential and internationally successful symphonic metal bands. Initially conceived as an acoustic project, Nightwish quickly evolved into a theatrical metal powerhouse characterized by a unique blend of operatic vocals, rich keyboard arrangements, and heavy guitar riffs. Their debut album, "Angels Fall First" (1997), and the breakthrough follow-up, "Oceanborn" (1998), featuring classically trained soprano Tarja Turunen, established their signature sound and paved the way for widespread acclaim across Europe.

The band's journey has been marked by three distinct vocal eras. Following Turunen’s departure in 2005, Swedish singer Anette Olzon joined in 2007. Her tenure began with the multi-platinum album "Dark Passion Play," which expanded their global reach and was followed by the conceptual "Imaginaerum" (2011). Since 2012, Dutch soprano Floor Jansen has fronted Nightwish, bringing renewed energy and dynamic range to the band. Under her lead, albums like "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" (2015) and the ambitious double release "Human. :||: Nature." (2020) have garnered critical and commercial success.

Nightwish’s impact is underscored by over nine million records sold and more than 60 gold and platinum certifications worldwide. Their sustained relevance is highlighted by seven number-one albums and thirteen chart-topping singles, with their 2024 album "Yesterwynde" topping the UK Rock and Metal charts. Renowned for blending rich melodies, symphonic grandeur, and metal intensity, Nightwish continues to shape and lead the global symphonic metal scene.
