About Maruja

Maruja is a dynamic London-based post-punk collective known for their experimental approach to music, blending hypnotic grooves, angular guitar riffs, and spoken-word vocals into a compelling sonic identity. Formed within the vibrant UK underground scene, the band features Harry Wilkinson on drums, Tommy Stewart on guitar, Matthew Cavanna on bass, and vocalist Harry Stam. Their sound defies easy categorization, drawing comparisons to innovative groups like Black Midi and Squid while maintaining an original style rooted in tension and release.

Maruja’s compositions often evolve through layered instrumental passages paired with cryptic and poetic lyrics that explore themes of urban alienation and existential unease. Their commitment to improvisation and sonic experimentation creates immersive live experiences, captivating audiences across London’s independent venues. A standout track like "Break The Tension ⛓️‍💥" exemplifies their blend of powerful beats and expressive lyrics, showcasing both intensity and emotional depth.

With an unapologetic attitude and a bold artistic vision, Maruja has quickly established themselves as a fresh and influential voice in Britain’s experimental music community. Their innovative fusion of post-punk energy and art rock creativity promises a future of continued boundary-pushing and artistic growth.
