About Tommy Guerrero

Tommy Guerrero, born in 1966 in San Francisco, is a pioneering figure whose impact spans both the worlds of skateboarding and music. Rising to fame as a member of Powell Peralta’s legendary "Bones Brigade" skate team in the 1980s, Guerrero helped shape skate culture before forging an impressive musical career as a self-taught multi-instrumentalist and composer. His distinctive sound effortlessly blends rock, jazz, Latin rhythms, soul, and trip-hop, drawing inspiration from icons like John Coltrane, Bill Withers, Bad Brains, and Gabor Szabo.

Guerrero launched his solo music career with the instrumental album "Loose Grooves & Bastard Blues" (1997), followed by critically acclaimed releases such as "A Little Bit of Somethin'" (2000) and "Soul Food Taqueria" (2003), both released on the influential Mo Wax label. Beyond his solo work, he has explored experimental and collaborative projects, including the post-rock band Jet Black Crayon, the jazz fusion group Blktop Project, and the collective Lord Newborn & the Magic Skulls with Money Mark and Shawn Lee. Throughout the 2010s, Guerrero continued to evolve, releasing "No Mans Land" (2014), "The Endless Road" (2016), and the 2019 collaboration "Dub Tunes" alongside Trevor Jackson via Ed Banger Records.

Today, Tommy Guerrero’s rich musical legacy bridges the gap between skate culture and eclectic soundscapes, making him a uniquely influential artist across multiple creative spheres.
