About Roupa Nova

Roupa Nova is a legendary Brazilian pop rock band that has sustained an extraordinary career since its formation in 1980, maintaining nearly the same lineup throughout four decades. The group’s journey began when they were invited to record a year-end theme for Rádio Cidade. At the suggestion of producer Mariozinho Rocha, they adopted the name Roupa Nova, which soon became synonymous with Brazilian popular music.

Renowned for their smooth vocal harmonies and catchy melodies, Roupa Nova has released 38 albums and sold over 20 million copies, becoming one of the most commercially successful bands in Brazil. Their timeless hits, including "Whisky a Go-Go," "Dona," "Volta pra Mim," "Anjo," and "Seguindo no Trem Azul," are staples of Brazilian radio and continue to resonate across generations.

Apart from their chart-topping songs, Roupa Nova holds the record for the most telenovela soundtracks, contributing iconic themes to 35 television productions. Notably, their composition "Tema da Vitória," written by Eduardo Souto Neto, became the anthem associated with the legendary Formula 1 racer Ayrton Senna. The band also created themes for popular shows like "Xou da Xuxa" and "Vídeo Show," further cementing their cultural impact.

The group originally featured members Cleberson, Feghali, Kiko, Nando, Paulinho (in memoriam), and Serginho, later adding Fabio Nestares as the seventh member to enrich their vocal arrangements. Despite the loss of Paulinho, Roupa Nova continues to captivate audiences with live performances that are widely celebrated as some of the finest in Brazil, maintaining their status as an enduring emblem of Brazilian music history.
