About Rod Stewart

Rod Stewart is one of rock music’s most enduring and versatile voices, with a career spanning over five decades. Born in London, he initially pursued football before dedicating himself to music in the early 1960s. Stewart’s early work involved touring with folk singer Wizz Jones and performing in British R&B groups such as Jimmy Powell & the Five Dimensions and Long John Baldry’s Hoochie Coochie Men. His breakthrough came as the lead vocalist for the Jeff Beck Group in the late 1960s, where his fusion of blues and rock helped shape the sound of modern hard rock on albums like "Truth" (1968) and "Beck-Ola" (1969).

Following this, Stewart became the frontman for the Faces, known for their raw, Stones-inspired energy, while launching a successful solo career. His 1971 album "Every Picture Tells a Story" achieved worldwide acclaim, propelled by the iconic single "Maggie May," which topped both US and UK charts. Throughout the 1970s, Stewart’s solo work evolved to include pop and disco elements, with hits such as "Tonight’s the Night" and the controversial "Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?" marking his adaptability.

In the 1980s, Stewart experimented with synth-pop, sustaining commercial success despite mixed critical reception. The late ’80s and early ’90s saw a creative resurgence with albums like "Out of Order" (1988) and the acoustic "Unplugged...And Seated" (1993). In the 2000s, he embraced the Great American Songbook, winning new fans with albums like "It Had to Be You" (2002) and "Stardust" (2004). Later works such as "Time" (2013) and "Blood Red Roses" (2018) marked a return to original songwriting enriched with personal and autobiographical themes. Beyond his music, Stewart’s candid memoir and charismatic persona have solidified his status as an iconic figure in rock history.
