About Boy Harsher

Boy Harsher is an American electronic duo formed in 2013 in Savannah, Georgia, consisting of vocalist Jae Matthews and producer Augustus Muller. The pair initially began collaborating under the name Teen Dreamz, blending Matthews’ evocative spoken-word storytelling with Muller’s live musical scoring. By early 2014, they evolved into Boy Harsher, embracing a darker, more dance-oriented electro-pop sound defined by minimalist beats, textured synth layers, and Matthews’ hauntingly sensual vocals.

Their breakthrough came with the single "Pain," featured on their debut EP *Lesser Man* (2014), which quickly garnered underground acclaim and launched a devoted cult following. After relocating to Northampton, Massachusetts, they released their first full-length album, *Yr Body Is Nothing* (2016), followed by the *Country Girl* EP (2017). In 2018, Boy Harsher founded their own label, Nude Club, enabling them to reissue earlier work and unveil new material, such as “Pain II,” including a remix by The Soft Moon.

The duo’s sophomore album, *Careful* (2019), explored themes of desire, isolation, and mental health, blending synth-pop and EBM influences with their signature dark electro aesthetics. Amid the 2020 pandemic, Boy Harsher expanded their artistic vision by creating and scoring *The Runner*, a meta-documentary horror short film released alongside its soundtrack in 2022. Known for hypnotic beats and captivating live shows, Boy Harsher remains a powerful force within the underground electronic music scene, continually evolving while maintaining their distinct, cinematic sound.
