About KaS Product

KaS Product is a trailblazing French electronic duo formed in Nancy in 1980, featuring American-born Mona Soyoc on vocals, guitar, and piano, alongside French synthesizer programmer and drum machine specialist Daniel "Spatsz" Favre. Emerging from the post-punk scene, they crafted a distinctive sound characterized by sharp, icy electronic textures blended with cold wave's moody intensity. Their initial independent 7" singles caught the attention of RCA France, leading to seminal albums like "Try Out" (1982) and "By Pass" (1983), which remain influential benchmarks in electronic and post-punk music.

In 1986, KaS Product softened their edge with the album "Ego Eye," released via Disc’Az, showcasing a more nuanced approach while maintaining their experimental spirit. Although the duo went on hiatus by the late 1980s, their impact endured through compilations such as "So Young But So Cold: Underground French Music 1977-1983"—named after one of their tracks—and Soul Jazz’s acclaimed "Punk 45" series, which helped introduce their innovative sound to new generations.

Reissues from labels like Move Over and Soul Jazz in the 2010s reignited interest in their catalog, and the duo resumed live performances in the 2000s. Today, KaS Product holds an enduring legacy as pioneers who pushed the boundaries of electronic music within the post-punk movement, influencing countless artists in France and beyond.
