About Nils Landgren

Nils Landgren, famously known as "Mr. Red Horn," is a renowned Swedish jazz trombonist and vocalist whose versatile artistry has captivated audiences worldwide. Born and raised in Sweden, Landgren seamlessly blends his deep appreciation for Swedish folk traditions with an adventurous approach to multiple musical genres. His career is marked by a distinctive duality: leading the energetic jazz-funk ensemble known as the Funk Unit while also embracing a more introspective, melodic side in intimate projects like the cherished *Christmas With My Friends* series.

Landgren’s signature red trombone and emotive vocals have become symbols of his dynamic performances, where groove-driven funk meets soulful balladry. Over decades, he has collaborated with illustrious musicians such as Maceo Parker, the Brecker Brothers, Roy Hargrove, Fred Wesley, Steve Gadd, Michael Wollny, Esbjörn Svensson, and Joe Sample. These partnerships have enriched his music, allowing him to explore and transcend traditional jazz boundaries.

Celebrated for his tireless work ethic and passionate curiosity, Nils Landgren continues to innovate within the contemporary jazz scene. Whether delivering high-energy funk rhythms or tender, heartfelt melodies, his music reflects an enduring dedication to artistic excellence and a fearless disregard for stylistic limitations. This commitment has rightfully earned him a place among the foremost figures in modern jazz.
