About Luiza Zan

Luiza Zan is one of Romania’s most celebrated jazz vocalists, renowned for her warm and expressive voice that artfully blends classic jazz with soul, funk, R&B, and traditional Romanian folk elements. Beginning her musical journey at the tender age of four, Zan developed a strong foundation through formal studies in canto and lied-oratorio at the prestigious “George Enescu” University of Arts in Iași. This classical training sharpened her technique and deepened her artistic versatility.

Her career gained early momentum when she won first prize at Romania’s Golden Stag Festival in 2004. This was followed by international acclaim in 2014, when she earned second place at the Montreux Jazz Festival’s competitive Jazz Voice Competition. Zan’s debut album, "Heritage" (year undisclosed), showcases her talent as a songwriter and composer, intertwining deeply personal stories inspired by her family’s roots with sophisticated musical arrangements.

Throughout her career, Luiza Zan has captivated audiences across Europe, collaborating with a range of renowned musicians while also dedicating herself to vocal coaching and composing for film and theatre. Beyond performance, she is a passionate advocate for music education in rural Romanian communities.
