About Amelia Coburn

Amelia Coburn stands out as a captivating voice in contemporary folk and indie music, known for her evocative storytelling that artfully blends darkness and light. Drawing inspiration from literary shadows, film noir, and her global travels, she weaves together a richly textured sound that merges Tin Pan Alley melodies with European folk, torchlit jazz, psychedelia, and baroque pop. Her distinctive vocal style, influenced by legends like Serge Gainsbourg, Scott Walker, Joni Mitchell, The Divine Comedy, Rufus Wainwright, and David Bowie, channels the theatricality of classic musicals with a playful yet piercing edge.

Coburn’s music often explores themes of vengeful widows, whimsical romances, and moonlit introspection, creating narratives that feel both timeless and refreshingly modern. Her debut album, "Between The Moon and The Milkman" (2024), produced by Bill Ryder-Jones, showcases her melodramatic songwriting and intricate acoustic arrangements, earning critical acclaim and endorsements from figures such as Paul Weller and Jo Whiley. A finalist in the BBC Folk Awards, Amelia Coburn is praised for her folk-goth style that evokes centuries-old fairy tales beneath a veil of melancholy. On stage, she combines wild theatrical persona with melodic mastery, promising a dynamic and unforgettable live experience. Through this blend of influences and storytelling, Amelia Coburn has firmly established herself as an essential figure in today’s musical landscape.
