About Jamie Woon

Jamie Woon is a London-born singer-songwriter celebrated for his seamless blend of soulful folk and cutting-edge electronic music. Son of session vocalist Mae McKenna, Woon first gained recognition in 2006 with his haunting a cappella version of "The Wayfaring Stranger," which was later remixed by dubstep pioneer Burial. This track caught the attention of influential BBC Radio DJ Gilles Peterson and earned a spot on the Brownswood Bubblers compilation, launching Woon into the spotlight.

Throughout the late 2000s, Jamie Woon collaborated with prominent electronic producers such as Ramadanman and Débruit, lending his distinctive voice to their projects. His breakthrough solo singles, including the atmospheric "Night Air" (2010) and "Lady Luck," both charted in the UK and showcased his talent for merging post-dubstep beats with soulful melodies. Woon's debut album, "Mirrorwriting" (2011), released via Polydor, was met with critical acclaim and followed his impressive fourth-place finish in the BBC Sound of 2011 poll.

After a brief hiatus, during which he collaborated with Disclosure on their album "Caracal," Jamie Woon returned with his sophomore album, "Making Time" (2015), released through PMR Records. Produced alongside Lexx and featuring artists like Robin Hannibal and Willy Mason, this record further solidified Woon’s reputation as an innovative folk-soul artist who continues to push genre boundaries with introspective songwriting and warm, evocative vocals.
