Shelby J., born Shelby Johnson in North Carolina, is a celebrated singer, songwriter, and dynamic entertainer known for her powerhouse vocals and distinctive bald look. She gained widespread acclaim as a vital member of Prince’s New Power Generation, launching her remarkable decade-long collaboration with the legendary icon during the unforgettable 2007 Super Bowl Halftime Show. Shelby’s soulful voice is prominently featured on several of Prince’s albums, including *Planet Earth* (credited as Chelsea Rodgers), *Lotus Flower* (2009), *20Ten* (2010), and *MPLSound* (2009). Her stirring rendition of "Nothing Compares 2 U" stands out as a career-defining moment, earning high praise from Prince, who famously declared her “A Star is Born” on the *Indigo Nights* project, where she shines on tracks like "Misty Blue" and "Baby Luv."
