About Efdemin

Efdemin, the stage name of Phillip Sollmann, is a Berlin-based DJ, producer, and musician born in 1974 in Kassel, Germany. Renowned for his distinctive fusion of deep, psychedelic house and techno, Efdemin has built a respected career marked by both dancefloor appeal and experimental innovation. A longtime resident at Berlin’s iconic Berghain and Panorama Bar, he has released numerous 12-inch singles and three critically acclaimed albums on Dial Records.

In 2018, Sollmann embarked on an ambitious project that combined a hybrid mix CD with a seven-EP series, co-released on his own label Naïf alongside Curle, illustrating his evolving sonic vision. Beyond club-centric productions, Efdemin has increasingly delved into experimental and microtonal music, collaborating with avant-garde artists such as Konrad Sprenger and Oren Ambarchi. Notably, he performed the Harry Partch-inspired "Monophonie" with Ensemble Musikfabrik at prestigious venues including Ruhrtriennale and Berlin’s Volksbühne.

His 2019 album "New Atlantis," released on Ostgut Ton, marked a significant evolution by blending his electronic roots with sound art, drawing thematic inspiration from Francis Bacon’s unfinished 17th-century novel of the same name. Through this seamless integration of club energy and avant-garde composition, Efdemin continues to push electronic music’s boundaries, securing his legacy as an innovative and intelligent force in contemporary techno and house.
