About Tinashe

Tinashe is a multi-talented, multi-platinum R&B artist celebrated for her innovative approach to music and unwavering artistic control. Born in Kentucky and raised in Pasadena, California, she draws from her rich African-American, Danish, Irish, and Norwegian heritage to craft a distinctive sound that defies traditional boundaries. Beginning her journey as a child actress and dancer, Tinashe evolved into a dynamic performer and a trailblazer in an industry traditionally dominated by men, notably taking charge of writing, producing, mixing, and engineering her own music.

Her fearless dedication to mastering every aspect of music production sets her apart, making her one of the few female artists to confidently handle both creative and technical roles. This hands-on involvement has shaped a bold, authentic artistic vision characterized by boundary-pushing modern R&B. Alongside her musical talents, Tinashe’s versatility extends to taekwondo training and experience in film and television, underscoring her multifaceted career.

Tinashe’s breakout came with memorable hits that showcased her sultry vocals and captivating dance skills, earning her multi-platinum certifications. Collaborating with a range of artists, she has consistently proven that complete artistic autonomy can lead to powerful, innovative music. Today, Tinashe continues to inspire with her fearless independence and commitment to breaking new ground in contemporary music.
