About DJ Yoda

DJ Yoda, born Duncan Beiny in London in 1977, is a pioneering British turntablist celebrated for his inventive hip-hop mixes infused with clever humor. After graduating from the University of Warwick in 1998, he quickly rose to prominence when a demo mixtape captured the attention of London-based Antidote Records. This led to the release of his breakthrough project, "How to Cut & Paste Mix Tape, Vol. 1" (2001), which not only demonstrated his technical skill but also his playful, genre-blending style. The success of this release spawned follow-ups including "Vol. 2" (2002) and the nostalgic "80’s Edition" (2003).

DJ Yoda’s skill and creativity earned him a strong presence on BBC Radio 1, where he contributed to shows like Lamacq Live, Annie Mac’s Mini-Mix, and the Essential Mix, further elevating his profile in the UK music scene. His debut full-length solo album, "The Amazing Adventures of DJ Yoda" (2006), showcased his versatility and knack for collaboration by featuring hip-hop legends such as Biz Markie, Jungle Brothers, and Akinyele. This album, known for its seamless fusion of humor, classic hip-hop, and innovative turntablism, produced notable singles like “Wheels” and “Playin’ Around,” cementing DJ Yoda’s reputation as a trailblazer in British hip-hop culture. Through his distinctive sampling techniques and boundary-pushing mixes, DJ Yoda remains a vital figure in the evolution of turntablism and hip-hop music.
