About Shadow of Intent

Shadow of Intent is a dynamic American metal band emerging from New England, founded in 2014 by vocalist Ben Duerr and multi-instrumentalist Chris Wiseman. The group has carved out a unique niche by fusing death metal, black metal, symphonic metal, progressive metal, and metalcore into a complex yet ferocious soundscape. Originally inspired by the mythos of the Halo video game series, their lyrical themes have matured to encompass darker, more personal narratives that delve into mythological horrors and real-world tragedies.

Since their initial live show in late 2017, Shadow of Intent has rapidly gained recognition, touring extensively across the United States alongside prominent metal acts such as Cannibal Corpse, The Black Dahlia Murder, Whitechapel, Carnifex, and Fleshgod Apocalypse. Their discography, independently produced and released, includes four critically acclaimed albums: "Primordial" (2016), "Reclaimer" (2017), "Melancholy" (2019), and the latest, "Elegy" (2022). "Elegy" marked a significant milestone, debuting at number four on Billboard’s Top New Artist Albums chart and securing top 20 placements across the Current Hard Music, Rock, and Digital Albums categories.

The current lineup solidifies the band’s powerful presence with Duerr’s commanding vocals, Wiseman’s multifaceted role on guitar, vocals, and keyboards, alongside Bryce Butler on drums and Andrew Monias on bass. Shadow of Intent continues to push the boundaries of modern extreme metal, delivering an intricate yet brutal sonic experience that resonates strongly with fans and critics alike.
