About Verushka

Verushka is a South London-based singer, songwriter, DJ, and producer celebrated for her unique fusion of alternative jazz, soul, and electronic music. Growing up in a musically rich household, Verushka was deeply influenced by jazz greats like Ella Fitzgerald and Stevie Wonder. Her Croatian heritage, coupled with family stories of her grandfather’s time as a violinist with the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, has shaped her distinctive sound—a blend of nostalgic jazz, soulful warmth, and modern electronic textures.

Before establishing herself as a solo artist, Verushka gained recognition as a sought-after backing vocalist for notable performers such as Aubrey Logan, Gabrielle, and Joshua Idehen. Her debut album, "Not Even Bliss" (2022), marked her breakthrough, earning glowing reviews from BBC6 Music and Jazz FM. The album’s title track was highlighted by China Moses as her Late Night Track of the Week, underscoring Verushka’s soulful vocals and emotionally evocative songwriting. Critics have praised her as a leading figure in the future soul movement, skillfully weaving heartfelt lyricism with innovative soundscapes.

After honing her production skills during a creative pause, Verushka returned in 2025 with the single "Holding On," co-written with Chris Booth and featuring musicians Yves Fernandez and David Mrakpor. Her dynamic live performances have graced prestigious venues like Glastonbury Festival, Soho House, and Ronnie Scott’s. Looking forward, she is set to release a self-produced EP, "Don’t Wanna Be Here I Just Wanna Be There" (2026), promising further exploration of her evolving artistry that seamlessly crosses genres and emotions.
