About Making Friends

Making Friends is a dynamic punk rock band renowned for their unfashionably fast, melodic style that injects raw energy into every track. Perfectly suited for listeners who crave intensity and brevity, their music blends breakneck tempos with catchy melodies, striking a balance between technical musicianship and accessible hooks. Embracing a staunch DIY ethos, Making Friends channels the genre’s frenetic roots into a sound that remains fresh and unapologetically authentic.

Fronted by vocalist and guitarist Ryan Mansell, whose previous work includes the bands Maisonette and Fastfade, Making Friends benefits from a lineup of seasoned musicians. Guitarist and backing vocalist Dan Farrell and drummer Pete Thomas both bring their experience from Indoor Swimming, while bassist and backing vocalist Bill Laken, affiliated with The Meantime Collective, rounds out the group. This diverse background fosters a tight, energetic chemistry that propels their songs beyond mere punk anthems.

Making Friends has cultivated a dedicated following by delivering high-energy performances and tracks that refuse to conform to fleeting trends. Their music resonates equally with long-time punk enthusiasts and newcomers seeking adrenaline-charged anthems. By fusing technical skill with infectious melodies, Making Friends offers a consistently thrilling sonic experience rooted in authenticity and passion for melodic punk rock.
