About Rita Payés

Rita Payés, born in 1999 into a family of musicians in Barcelona, is a remarkable trombonist and vocalist who has swiftly risen as a standout figure in contemporary jazz. She first came into the spotlight as a member of the prestigious Sant Andreu Jazz Band, a renowned incubator of young jazz talent that also nurtured artists like Andrea Motis and Èlia Bastida. Under the mentorship of Joan Chamorro, Payés made her recording debut with the album "Imagina" (2019), marking the beginning of her professional musical journey.

Her solo breakthrough arrived with the self-released album "Como la piel" (2021), which showcased her lyrical songwriting and unique voice. This deeply personal record fuses jazz traditions with elements of bolero, bossa nova, classical, and popular music, crafting an elegant yet accessible sound that resonates worldwide. The single "Algo contigo" has amassed nearly 52 million Spotify streams, while the music video for "Nunca vas a comprender" approaches 7 million views on YouTube. These achievements reflect her expanding international fanbase, numbering over 1.3 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
