About Maria Gadú

Maria Gadú, born Mayra Correa in São Paulo in 1986, is a distinguished Brazilian singer-songwriter, musician, and producer known for her soulful voice and socially engaged artistry. She rose to prominence with her self-titled debut album, *Maria Gadú* (2009), which earned critical acclaim and a Latin Grammy nomination. Her emotive songs quickly became staples in Brazilian soap operas, films, and television series, cementing her influence in popular culture. Following this success, she released a live CD and DVD in 2010, capturing the vibrant energy from her debut tour.

In 2011, Gadú released her second studio album, *Mais Uma Página*, and embarked on a highly regarded tour with legendary artist Caetano Veloso, resulting in the live album *Caetano e Maria Gadú - Multishow ao Vivo*. Her third album, *Guelã* (2016), further showcased her artistic evolution, complemented by a live recording released in 2017. Deeply invested in anthropology, sociology, and Brazilian history, Gadú integrates her academic interests into her music and activism. She advocates passionately for Indigenous rights, LGBTQIA+ communities, feminism, and anti-racism, themes notably reflected in her single "Mundo Líquido," filmed in Brazil’s Amazon region.

After a period of intense creative exploration, Maria Gadú released her fourth studio album, *Quem Sabe Isso Quer Dizer Amor* (2021), reinforcing her reputation as an innovative artist who blends poetic lyricism with cultural consciousness. Her enduring commitment to social causes and musical innovation continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
