About Sons of Arrakis

Sons of Arrakis is a dynamic Montreal-based band formed in June 2019, renowned for their innovative blend of heavy rock infused with cinematic sci-fi elements. Deeply inspired by Frank Herbert’s iconic *Dune* saga, the band has carved out a unique niche they call Melange Rock—an atmospheric fusion of crushing riffs and expansive soundscapes that distinguishes them from the conventional stoner rock scene. The members bring extensive experience from Montreal’s vibrant music community, having previously performed in groups such as Blue Cheese, Prieur & Landry, The Hazytones, and UUBBUURRUU. Guitarist Francis Duchesne contributes not only his instrumental prowess but also his production expertise, notably from his work with the acclaimed rock’n’roll band Les Deuxluxes.

Sons of Arrakis burst onto the heavy rock scene with their debut album, *Volume I* (2022), which swiftly reached number one on the Doom Chart and secured a top ten spot in the year-end rankings. Their follow-up album, *Volume II* (2024), upheld this momentum, climbing to number three on the same chart and again earning a place in the year-end Top 10. The band has developed a solid fan base through extensive touring across Quebec, Canada, and Mexico. In 2025, they expanded their reach with the Shai-Hulud Odyssey tour, performing throughout the United States and Europe, including standout appearances at Planet Desert Rock Weekend IV and a U.S. tour with Salem’s Bend. With their compelling fusion of heavy riffs and sci-fi atmospheres, Sons of Arrakis continue to make significant waves within international heavy rock and stoner rock circles.
