About Donny Osmond

Donny Osmond, born December 9, 1957, in Ogden, Utah, has built a remarkable career spanning over six decades as a singer, actor, and all-around entertainer. Rising to fame as the seventh of nine children in the devout Mormon Osmond family, he first gained public attention in the early 1960s as part of The Osmonds. The group evolved from a barbershop quartet featured on *The Andy Williams Show* into a polished pop-rock band, scoring hits like "One Bad Apple" (1971). As a solo artist, Donny became a teen idol with chart-toppers such as "Go Away, Little Girl" and "Puppy Love," combining a wholesome image with a versatile voice that smoothly transitioned through bubblegum pop into contemporary dance-pop.

In the 1970s, Donny deepened his appeal alongside his sister Marie through their popular TV variety show *Donny & Marie* (1976–1979). Facing a career slump in the 1980s, he made a striking comeback in 1989 with the self-titled album *Donny Osmond*, led by the unexpected hit "Soldier of Love," which was cleverly promoted as a mystery artist to challenge industry doubts. His talents extended to Broadway, where he starred as Joseph in *Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat* from 1992 to 1997, appearing in over 2,000 performances. Donny lent his voice to Disney’s *Mulan* (1998), portraying Shang, and later achieved renewed success with albums like *This Is the Moment* (2001), *What I Meant to Say* (2004), and *Start Again* (2021). The latter album showcased his ability to evolve artistically, blending R&B and hip-hop influences and working with collaborators such as Charlie Wilson and Pierre Bensusan.

Donny’s enduring charm was further solidified through his long-running Las Vegas residency with Marie (2008–2019), which became so iconic the Flamingo Hotel renamed its showroom the Donny & Marie Theater. He also won *Dancing with the Stars* in 2009 and impressed audiences as Peacock on *The Masked Singer* in 2019, finishing runner-up. Consistently maintaining a clean-cut, family-friendly image, Donny Osmond remains a versatile and beloved figure in the entertainment world—an artist continuously adapting while honoring his roots.
