Ibibio Sound Machine is a vibrant London-based collective known for their innovative fusion of West African rhythms, electro-funk, Afrobeat, and post-punk energy. Fronted by vocalist Eno Williams and multi-instrumentalist and producer Max Grunhard, the group skillfully blends Ibibio language lyrics with dynamic, propulsive beats and rich instrumentation. Their distinct sound has earned them acclaim for crafting music that is both irresistibly danceable and culturally resonant.

Ibibio Sound Machine’s 2023 album, "Pull the Rope," produced by Sheffield’s Ross Orton—celebrated for his work with Arctic Monkeys and M.I.A.—showcases a deliberate evolution from their 2022 release "Electricity." While "Electricity" captured a sunlit, festival-ready vibe, "Pull the Rope" plunges into the intensity of an all-night dancefloor, delivering a more immediate, visceral energy. The album was created over a focused two-week period with a fresh songwriting approach: Williams and Grunhard collaborated closely at the core before involving the full band, resulting in streamlined and instinctive compositions.
