About Max Cooper

Max Cooper is a Belfast-born British electronic music producer and DJ celebrated for his unique fusion of ambient techno and vibrant club tracks. His sound is deeply influenced by ambient, neo-classical, and post-rock artists such as Sigur Rós, Boards of Canada, and Nils Frahm, resulting in immersive soundscapes that balance intellectual depth with dancefloor energy. Before fully committing to his music career, Cooper earned a Ph.D. in computational biology from the University of Nottingham and worked as a genetics researcher at University College London, blending scientific precision with artistic innovation.

Between 2007 and 2010, Cooper released a series of ten EPs on renowned labels including Evolved Records and Traum Schallplatten, which helped him gain early recognition. His prolific output expanded through collaborations with visual artist Whiskas fX and musicians like Braids, culminating in the release of "Conditions One" (2012) on the Fields label. Cooper’s debut album, "Human" (2014), featured vocals by Kathrin deBoer and collaborations that showcased his ability to intertwine lush melodies with electronic textures. Following this, his sophomore album "Emergence" (2016) was released on his own Mesh label, further cementing his reputation for sophisticated, emotionally resonant electronic music.

Known also for his innovative collaborations with Tom Hodge and remixes for artists such as Hot Chip, Au Revoir Simone, and Michael Nyman, Max Cooper continues to push the boundaries of electronic music by integrating experimental visuals and jazz influences, positioning himself as a versatile and forward-thinking figure in contemporary electronic production.
