About E.R. Thorpe

E.R. Thorpe is a distinguished singer-songwriter and visual artist whose work intricately blends poetic storytelling with a profound emotional depth. Raised in the rural landscapes of North Nottinghamshire, she draws inspiration from her musical upbringing—her father a blues guitarist and her mother steeped in folk traditions. This heritage nurtures a poignant connection to nature, memory, and meaning that permeates her compositions.

Her debut album, *Human Love* (2026), stands as a powerful exploration of resilience and renewal. Produced by Jim Baron of Crazy P, following his acclaimed *Love Makes Magic*, the record features an ensemble of Nottingham’s finest musicians, including Huw Costin (Torn Sail, Brown Fang), Kev Bales (Spiritualized), Matt Klose (Crazy P), and jazz bassist Simon Paterson. The album highlights Thorpe’s lyrical sophistication, often compared to Nick Cave’s evocative narratives, matched with a visual sensibility reminiscent of photographer Sally Mann.

Before her full-length debut, Thorpe released the EP *Guided By The Sea (Came Death)* (2023), which garnered the attention of Damian Harris, founder of Skint Records and Vicious Charm Recordings. This connection led to the release of the critically praised single "Human Love" in December 2025, marking a significant milestone in her evolving career.

Thorpe frequently collaborates with The Low Drift, a collective rooted in British Isles folklore, where her magnetic yet understated stage presence and deeply resonant voice create immersive experiences that captivate audiences across intimate venues and larger stages alike. E.R. Thorpe’s fusion of folk, indie, and poetic lyricism continues to carve out a distinct place within the contemporary music landscape.
