About Interpol

Formed in New York City in 1997, Interpol quickly became a defining force in the post-punk revival movement of the early 2000s. The band’s original lineup came together when guitarist Daniel Kessler teamed up with bassist Carlos Dengler and vocalist-guitarist Paul Banks. Drummer Sam Fogarino completed the group shortly before they signed with Matador Records in 2002. That same year, Interpol released their critically acclaimed debut album, "Turn On The Bright Lights" (2002), which garnered immediate praise—earning Pitchfork’s top album of the year and landing tenth on NME’s best releases.

Over the next decade and a half, Interpol built on this momentum with five more studio albums, all of which consistently charted on the Billboard 200. Their moody, atmospheric sound, marked by intricate guitar work and Banks’s distinctive baritone voice, earned accolades from Rolling Stone, TIME, and other leading music publications. The band also gained widespread exposure through memorable performances at major festivals like Coachella, Glastonbury, and Mexico’s Corona Capital, as well as appearances on popular TV shows including The Late Show with David Letterman and Conan.

Today, the core trio of Banks, Kessler, and Fogarino continue to evolve their sound. Their latest album, "The Other Side of Make-Believe" (2022), produced by the renowned team Flood and Alan Moulder, reflects Interpol’s enduring influence and commitment to artistic growth. Released via Matador Records, this record signifies a fresh chapter in their storied career while staying true to the atmospheric intensity that first captivated fans worldwide.
