About Inventory

Inventory, a Copenhagen-based trio, has forged a distinctive sound inspired by the introspective and unconventional edges of 1990s alternative rock. Drawing from the slowcore melancholy of Red House Painters and the jazzy, experimental textures of Tortoise, Inventory blends guitar-driven compositions with atmospheric nuance. Their music balances weight and subtlety, embracing dissonance and melody without relying on loudness or complexity, creating immersive and emotionally resonant soundscapes.

Comprising members who have played in bands such as Town Portal, Mørkt Stof, Trader, Deirdre, and Tvivler, Inventory takes a deliberate departure from the intensity of their previous projects. They prioritize patience, naive exploration, and artistic immersion, crafting music that unfolds with emotive depth and creative subtlety.

Inventory’s debut EP, "Memory is a Plow" (2023), was recorded in Copenhagen by guitarist and vocalist Christian Henrik Ankerstjerne and mixed by Mark Roberts, known for his work with Delta Sleep and Black Peaks. The EP features layered, dreamy vocals from Irish-Australian singer Bonnie Stewart (Bonniesongs), adding an ethereal dimension to their sound. Their follow-up EP, "Sunday Tonne," released through the UK label Sofa Boy Records, continues to showcase their evolving collaborative approach and commitment to sonic exploration.

By melding thoughtful musicianship with an open, fluid creative spirit, Inventory has carved a unique niche in contemporary alternative music, attracting listeners who appreciate a blend of subtlety, emotion, and innovation.
