About The Urban Voodoo Machine

Formed in London in 2003 by Norwegian-born singer, songwriter, and guitarist Paul-Ronney Angel, The Urban Voodoo Machine has forged a singular identity within the contemporary music scene. Describing themselves as the world’s only "Bourbon Soaked Gypsy Blues Bop’N’Stroll Orchestra," the band masterfully blends blues, gypsy folk, vintage Americana, and vaudeville theatrics into an electrifying fusion. Their sound is enriched by eclectic instrumentation, often featuring accordion, violin, and unconventional percussion alongside traditional rock elements, which contributes to their distinctive carnival-like atmosphere.

Known for explosive live performances that swing seamlessly from raucous dance numbers to hauntingly introspective ballads, The Urban Voodoo Machine captivates audiences with both musical prowess and theatrical flair. Rooted in European cabaret traditions and infused with dark romanticism, their music defies easy classification, straddling blues, roots, and alternative genres. Over the years, the band has cultivated a loyal following across the UK and beyond, with albums showcasing Paul-Ronney Angel’s storytelling finesse and the ensemble’s dynamic range.

Continuously touring, The Urban Voodoo Machine remains a vibrant force in modern blues and roots music. Their genre-defying approach keeps their bourbon-soaked sound alive and intoxicating, securing their place as innovators who celebrate the past while boldly pushing musical boundaries.
