About Cockney Rejects

Cockney Rejects emerged from East London’s tough streets in the late 1970s, quickly distinguishing themselves with a raw, working-class punk sound that vividly portrayed street life, clashes with police, and football culture. Rejecting the polished art-school punk scene, they captured the gritty realities faced by many disillusioned youths. After just four live shows, the band signed with EMI and swiftly rose to fame with a debut album that topped UK charts. Their rebellious spirit made waves, culminating in a notorious appearance on *Top of the Pops* that led to a permanent ban.

Central to their identity is the 1980 anthem "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles," which celebrates their beloved West Ham United football club. However, their passionate football following sometimes ignited violent incidents, most famously the "Battle of Birmingham," an event that brought legal troubles and temporarily halted their touring.

The 1990s saw Cockney Rejects reap renewed respect as punk revivalists like Rancid and Green Day cited them as crucial influences. They returned stronger in the 2000s, thrilling global audiences with electrifying live shows. In January 2024, frontman Jeff "Stinky" Turner spearheaded a revitalized lineup, featuring Olga (Toy Dolls) on guitar, JJ Kaos (Last Resort, Anti-Nowhere League) on bass, and Ray Dust (The Business, Argy Bargy) on drums. This powerhouse lineup continues to uphold Cockney Rejects' uncompromising legacy, delivering gritty anthems that resonate with punk fans worldwide.
