About Bad Religion

Formed in Los Angeles in 1980, Bad Religion has become a cornerstone of punk rock, renowned for its unique blend of sharp social commentary and melodic harmonies. Founded by vocalist Greg Graffin and guitarist Brett Gurewitz, the band has maintained a collaborative partnership spanning over four decades, producing a rich and influential catalog. Their music transcends traditional punk by integrating intellectual themes with energetic, melodic hardcore and skate punk sounds, helping to shape California’s punk scene and inspiring countless musicians across generations.

Bad Religion’s lyrics often tackle political and societal issues, setting them apart as one of punk rock’s most thoughtful and socially conscious voices. Their ability to combine rebellious energy with thoughtful critique has earned them critical acclaim and a devoted fanbase. With releases on prominent labels like Epitaph—founded by Gurewitz—and Atlantic Records, the band has successfully bridged underground credibility and mainstream accessibility without sacrificing their core principles.

Throughout their enduring career, Bad Religion has continually evolved while staying true to their roots, establishing themselves as pioneers and essential listening within the punk and hardcore scenes. Their legacy is defined not only by their powerful anthems and melodic innovation but also by their role as a progressive voice within alternative music, ensuring their relevance for decades to come.
