About The Last Shadow Puppets

The Last Shadow Puppets is a British rock supergroup formed in 2007, uniting Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner and Miles Kane of The Rascals. Their partnership blossomed after Kane’s former band toured with Arctic Monkeys, sparking a creative connection rooted in shared influences like Scott Walker and David Bowie. That summer, the duo retreated to a French studio to record their debut album with producer James Ford and arranger Owen Pallett, backed by the London Metropolitan Orchestra’s lush strings.

Released in early 2008 on Domino Records, their debut album, "The Age of the Understatement," received critical acclaim and a Mercury Prize nomination for its sophisticated blend of orchestral grandeur and modern rock sensibilities. Afterward, Turner and Kane focused on their solo and band projects—Turner with Arctic Monkeys albums such as *Humbug* (2009) and *AM* (2013), and Kane with solo efforts like *Colour of the Trap* (2011)—but reunited briefly for live shows in 2012-2013.

Following Arctic Monkeys' hiatus in 2014, The Last Shadow Puppets made a celebrated return with their second album, "Everything You’ve Come to Expect" (2016). This record topped the UK Albums Chart and featured notable singles "Bad Habits" and "Aviation." That same year, they released the six-track EP "The Dream Synopsis," which showcased their versatility through reimagined songs and covers of artists including Leonard Cohen and Jacques Dutronc. Renowned for combining vintage orchestral elements with theatrical rock, The Last Shadow Puppets continue to captivate listeners with their distinct and enduring sound.
