About The Horrors

The Horrors, formed in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, in 2005, have established themselves as one of England’s most influential indie rock bands. Emerging from the post-punk revival scene, the quintet initially captured attention with their raw garage punk sound. Over time, The Horrors have evolved dramatically, weaving shoegaze, neo-psychedelia, and gothic rock into their music, which showcases their creative versatility and enduring appeal.

Their breakthrough arrived with the critically acclaimed album "Primary Colours" (2009), a bold departure toward a more atmospheric and experimental sound. This release earned them widespread recognition and accolades, including NME’s Best Art Vinyl award, cementing their status in the British alternative music landscape. Building on this momentum, albums like "Skying" (2011) and "V" (2017) pushed creative boundaries further, blending vintage influences with contemporary styles. Signed to XL Recordings, The Horrors continue to captivate audiences with haunting melodies and energetic performances.

Known for their continuous reinvention and sonic exploration, The Horrors have become a defining force in 21st-century British rock. Their artful fusion of genres, paired with a commitment to innovation, not only highlights their artistic growth but also solidifies their place as one of Essex’s most important musical exports and a staple of the UK's alternative scene.
