About Fuel

Fuel is a prominent American rock band that emerged from Tennessee in 1989, initially comprising Brett Scallions (vocals, guitar), Carl Bell (guitar), Jeff Abercrombie (bass), and Kevin Miller (drums). Early in their career, Fuel relocated to Pennsylvania in 1993, where they cultivated their signature post-grunge sound—a mix of polished guitar riffs and melodic, emotive lyrics. Their breakthrough arrived with the independently released EP "Porcelain" (1996), which sold over 10,000 copies locally and featured the standout track "Shimmer," earning significant regional radio play.

Recognizing their potential, Sony’s 550 Records signed Fuel, releasing the "Hazleton" EP (1997) followed by their platinum-certified debut album "Sunburn" (1998). This record solidified their presence in alternative rock, driven by hits like "Shimmer," "Bittersweet," and the title track, which appeared on the "Scream 3" soundtrack. Their sophomore album, "Something Like Human" (2000), elevated their commercial success, achieving double platinum status and reaching number 17 on the Billboard charts. The album’s highlight, "Hemorrhage (In My Hands)," remains Fuel’s biggest hit and a staple of early 2000s rock radio.

Fuel’s 2003 album, "Natural Selection," debuted strongly with the single "Falls on Me" but experienced a rapid chart decline. Following Scallions’ departure in 2006, the band brought in vocalist Toryn Green and released "Angels & Devils" (2007), featuring session drummer Josh Freese due to scheduling conflicts with Tommy Stewart. Over the decades, Fuel has maintained a loyal fanbase, recognized as a key figure in post-grunge and alternative rock with a legacy defined by melodic depth and heartfelt lyrics.
