About Héctor Infanzón

Héctor Infanzón, born on April 25, 1959, in Mexico City, is a celebrated Mexican pianist, composer, arranger, and producer whose versatility spans classical, jazz, Afro-Caribbean, folk, rock, and pop genres. He began formal piano studies in 1976 at the Escuela Superior de Música and the Escuela Nacional de Música, where he not only honed his classical skills but also performed extensively, including solo appearances with the prestigious Orquesta de Cámara de Bellas Artes. His passion for diverse musical styles drove him to expand beyond classical boundaries.

In 1985, Infanzón deepened his jazz expertise at Berklee College of Music in Boston, shaping his lifelong dedication to this genre. By 1989, he founded the influential jazz trio Antropóleo, which became a vital force in Mexico’s jazz scene. Two years later, he formed his own jazz quartet, gaining acclaim at major festivals both in Mexico and internationally. His debut solo album, "De manera personal" (1993), showcased his innovative fusion of jazz with Afro-Caribbean and folk rhythms. This exploration continued with his 2000 album "Nos Toca," further establishing his distinctive sound.

Throughout his career, Héctor Infanzón has collaborated with iconic artists such as Carlos Santana, José Feliciano, Tania Libertad, and Papo Lucca. Notably, he toured worldwide with Ricky Martin during the "Livin’ la Vida Loca" tour (1999–2001), bringing his dynamic musicianship to global audiences. His work also extends into composition for string quintets, theater, and film scores, reflecting exceptional creative breadth.

Recognized by Mexico’s Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte, Infanzón has earned prestigious honors like the Lira de Oro and Mario Ruiz Armengol awards. His seamless blend of classical sophistication and contemporary innovation cements his legacy as a transformative figure in Mexico’s musical landscape.
