About Alan Silvestri

Alan Silvestri is a distinguished American composer widely acclaimed for his dynamic and memorable film scores. Raised in Teaneck, New Jersey, Silvestri’s passion for music emerged early, leading him to study guitar at Boston’s Berklee College of Music. After a brief stint touring with Wayne Cochran & the C.C. Riders, he kickstarted his scoring career in the early 1970s with the film *The Doberman Gang* (1972) and later contributed music to the popular TV series *CHiPs* throughout the late 1970s.

Silvestri’s career skyrocketed through a prolific partnership with director Robert Zemeckis, beginning with *Romancing the Stone* (1984). This collaboration produced iconic scores for the *Back to the Future* trilogy (1985–1990), *Who Framed Roger Rabbit?* (1988), and the Academy Award-winning *Forrest Gump* (1994). Beyond Zemeckis’ films, Silvestri showcased versatility with thrilling soundscapes in *Predator* (1987) and *The Abyss* (1989), as well as family favorites like *Lilo & Stitch* (2002) and *The Polar Express* (2004). His work on the latter earned him an Academy Award nomination and a Grammy Award for co-writing the song "Believe" with Glen Ballard.

In recent years, Silvestri has made significant contributions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, composing for *Captain America: The First Avenger* (2011), *The Avengers* (2012), *Avengers: Infinity War* (2018), and *Avengers: Endgame* (2019), receiving another Grammy nomination. His accolades also include Emmy Awards for *Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey* (2014). Continually evolving, Silvestri returned to collaboration with Zemeckis for the live-action *Pinocchio* (2022), co-writing original songs with Ballard once again. Alan Silvestri remains a towering figure in Hollywood, celebrated for his orchestral mastery and enduring influence across generations of film music fans.
