About Roc Marciano

Roc Marciano, born Rakeem Myer in Hempstead, Long Island, stands as a defining figure in New York’s underground hip-hop scene. Drawing early inspiration from Long Island legends like Public Enemy, EPMD, and De La Soul, as well as iconic New York artists such as Nas and The Notorious B.I.G., Marciano developed a style marked by moody, atmospheric beats and intricate, stream-of-consciousness lyricism. His breakthrough came when Busta Rhymes discovered his early work and signed him to Flipmode Records, leading to features on high-profile projects, including Busta’s single "Anarchy," alongside Wu-Tang Clan affiliates Raekwon and Ghostface Killah.

Marciano initially gained wider attention as part of the U.N. crew, formed with high school friends from Uniondale, releasing notable albums like "Strength & Honor" and "UN or U Out?" (2004). After the collective disbanded, he forged a solo path, collaborating with respected artists such as GZA and Marco Polo. His critically acclaimed solo debut, "Marcberg" (2010), showcased his signature blend of gritty production and dense lyricism, earning him a revered place among underground hip-hop aficionados.

Subsequent albums, including "Reloaded" (2012), the collaboration-heavy "Marci Beaucoup" (2013) featuring Action Bronson and Freeway, and "Rosebudd’s Revenge" (2017), further solidified Roc Marciano’s reputation as an uncompromising auteur. Known for shaping the sound of independent hip-hop, he continues to influence contemporary underground rap with his distinctively raw and cinematic approach.
