About Winston McAnuff

Winston McAnuff is a celebrated Jamaican reggae artist whose career reflects resilience and musical innovation. Born and raised in Jamaica, McAnuff began his journey alongside childhood friend Earl Sixteen, recording the album "What a Man a Deal With" in 1978. Despite its compelling roots reggae sound, the album initially failed to achieve commercial success, leaving McAnuff struggling for recognition. His fortunes changed dramatically in 2004 when the French label Makasound reissued the album, introducing his authentic style to a global audience and revitalizing interest in his work.

Known for blending traditional roots reggae with fresh influences, McAnuff released "A Drop" (2005), a pioneering album that fused electronic elements with his signature sound. This adventurous spirit continued in 2007 through his collaboration with the French group Java on "Paris Rockin," which helped him gain widespread acclaim on the European festival circuit. Returning to pure reggae with "Nostradamus" (2008), McAnuff reaffirmed his status as a master of the genre. His creative evolution culminated in the 2013 album "A New Day," a partnership with French musician Fixi that became one of France’s best-selling reggae releases that year. Today, Winston McAnuff stands as a vital figure in contemporary roots reggae, celebrated for both his authentic sound and artistic versatility.
