About Mudvayne

Mudvayne is a pioneering heavy metal band that formed in 1996 in Peoria, Illinois. The group originally featured Chad Gray (known early on as Kud) on vocals, Greg Tribbett (Gurrg) on guitar, Matthew McDonough (sPaG) on drums, and a bassist who was replaced after two years by Ryan Martinie (Ryknow). From the outset, Mudvayne distinguished themselves with their theatrical stage presence, donning elaborate makeup and adopting evolving personas that ranged from grotesque to alien, setting a new standard in metal performance art.

Their independently released debut EP, "Kill, I Oughta," captured the attention of Epic Records, leading to their major-label debut album, "L.D. 50" (2000). This breakthrough record achieved gold status and won Mudvayne the first-ever MTV2 Video Music Award in 2001, marking their arrival on the nu-metal scene. Their follow-up album, "The End of All Things to Come" (2002), produced by David Bottrill at Pachyderm Studios, showcased a more progressive and refined sound alongside their continued visual evolution.

Throughout their career, Mudvayne built a strong reputation by sharing stages with metal heavyweights like Metallica, Slipknot, and Linkin Park. They continued to expand their sonic palette with albums such as "Lost and Found" (2005), the fans’-curated compilation "By the People, for the People" (2007), "New Game" (2008), and the self-titled "Mudvayne" (2009). After disbanding in 2010, the band reunited in 2021, reasserting their influential role in shaping heavy and alternative metal for new generations.
