About O-Zone

O-Zone is a Moldova-based Eurodance trio that rose to global prominence in the early 2000s. Originally formed in 1999 by Dan Balan, the group’s definitive lineup was established in 2001 with the addition of Radu Sirbu and Arsenie Todiras. Their breakthrough came with the catchy single "Dragostea Din Tei" (2003), also popularly known as "The Numa Numa Song." This infectious track, whose title translates to "Love of the Linden Tree," pays homage to Romanian poet Mihai Eminescu and captivated audiences worldwide. It topped charts in 32 countries and sold over 12 million copies, inspiring more than 100 cover versions in a dozen languages.

The song’s widespread appeal extended beyond music charts when American internet user Gary Brolsma lip-synced it in a viral webcam video, one of the earliest global internet phenomena that helped cement O-Zone’s place in pop culture. Although their follow-up single "Despre Tine" enjoyed moderate success and their album gained significant traction, they never quite reached the same explosive heights again.

In 2005, O-Zone amicably disbanded to pursue solo careers. Radu Sirbu and Arsenie Todiras continued their musical journeys in Europe, while Dan Balan moved to Los Angeles to explore a solo rock project, collaborating with renowned producer Jack Joseph Puig. O-Zone’s legacy endures as a defining force in Eurodance and early 2000s pop music, celebrated for their unforgettable blend of upbeat rhythms and catchy melodies.
