About Oscar Mulero

Oscar Mulero is a seminal figure in Spain’s techno scene, known for his dual prowess as a DJ and producer. Born and raised in Madrid, his musical path began in the 1980s, heavily influenced by British goth rock bands such as The Cure, Joy Division, and Sisters of Mercy. This early passion soon evolved toward electronic body music, inspired by pioneering groups like Front 242 and Nitzer Ebb. By the early 1990s, Mulero had established himself as a key presence in Madrid’s underground clubs, holding residencies at iconic venues including New World and the legendary Omen.

Mulero’s breakthrough came in 1996 with his acclaimed performance at Barcelona’s Sónar Festival, solidifying his international reputation. His sound has consistently evolved, initially blending Detroit techno and IDM influences before incorporating the cutting-edge styles of artists like Jeff Mills and Surgeon. In 2000, he founded the influential label Warm Up, releasing standout EPs such as "Medical Mesh" (2000) and "Learning to Be a Machine." Later, he launched the subsidiary label Pole (2004), further showcasing his commitment to innovation.

Throughout his career, Oscar Mulero has released music on prestigious labels including Tresor, Theory Recordings, and Detroit Underground. Albums like the ambitious double LP "Grey Fades to Green" (2011) and the atmospheric "Biosfera" (2013) demonstrate his versatility across the techno spectrum. Collaborations with artists like Christian Wünsch under the Spherical Coordinates project highlight his continuous drive to push electronic music boundaries.
