About Pixies

Pixies, formed in 1986 in Massachusetts, are widely recognized as one of the pioneering forces in alternative rock during the late 1980s. Their innovative "loud-quiet-loud" dynamic—a bold blend of abrasive punk energy and catchy pop melodies—revolutionized indie rock and laid the groundwork for future generations of artists, including Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, the Strokes, and Weezer.

The Boston-based quartet’s influential catalog features seven genre-defining studio albums, most notably the Gold-certified "Surfer Rosa" (1988) and the Platinum-selling "Doolittle" (1989). The latter is often celebrated as a quintessential alt-rock masterpiece, securing the band’s place in music history. After their initial breakup in 1993, Pixies reunited in 2004 with a refreshed lineup that includes founding members Black Francis, Joey Santiago, and David Lovering, joined by British bassist Emma Richardson. This reformation kicked off an exhilarating second chapter in their career, marked by sold-out global tours and electrifying live shows renowned for their unpredictability and spontaneous setlists that balance classic hits with new material.

In 2024, Pixies commemorate 35 years since "Doolittle" reached the UK Top Ten and two decades since their iconic reunion performance at Coachella. Today, the band continues to captivate multiple generations of fans, thriving creatively while preserving their legacy as alternative rock trailblazers who still inspire and innovate decades after their inception.
